Bluebell: Spanish is fun. It is a very logical language to learn. I took it in high school, then I thought I'd take up French again (took it in jr. high) and kept mixing them up when I was in French. So I just stuck with spanish. I've lost alot of it, but I made sure to remember enough to ask where the bathroom is and to call someone a "crazy chicken". LOL I hope you enjoy it alot. It is fun to broaden our abilities. Did you ever frame anything you sketched? I haven't yet. I have one I am thinking of framing. Bigdreaux: All I can say is "ewwwwww", but my hubby says he's awesome. I just keep thinking "how could you tape them on?" I could see super glueing them. Yuck. But you gotta do what you gotta do to keep doing something you love. BTW, thanks for posting. I wasn't sure where to put this at and felt like I should contribute a topic, esp. after minimus was stumped for topics. I am having fun with it.

LOL! Did I get your attention?
I am teaching myself to play guitar. I took lessons when I was about 10 but whined until I was allowed to quit. Hubby bought me a new guitar 7 years ago, and I've been really working on it this week. My fingertips are sore and I am awaiting the callouses.
How did I get so smokin' hot I burnt my fingers you ask? My fingertips were all tingle-y and sore, and I picked up something hot and couldn't feel the pain of it! It was one of those moments where you say to yourself, "Hmmmmmmm. I would have thought that was hotter than it is" then you see little white blisters that agree with you. So I have been playing through the pain, hoping I won't notice it get any more tender! If I can get some callouses on there quickly, I might not notice it as much!
Which leads me to wonder, "Do your fingers get calloused from the piano?". Maybe I switch instruments! Although it might be hard to drag the piano to the porch rocker to practice! Anyone else letting their creative juices flow and take up a new hobby or interest? I have also dabbled at sketching and thinking of painting.

I love the feel of leather! Especially for cleaning, allergies and the cool feel of it if it is in an airconditioned room. Recliners are tricky to find one that fits your body. We went with a reclining sofa.It is a CATNAPPER. We got it on sale at a going out of business sale. $900 was a great price. Love it except for the fact when we are both reclined, we can't see each other!!!! The center cushion stays upright and you feel all alone. Just another pair of legs to see. So next we plan on 2 separate recliners, and hopefully swivel rocker ones. They are kind of hard to find, but possible. Hope you find one that makes you say "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh"!

What a cool thing to get! My family had a long, long family history researched, back to the Mayflower and beyond on my mom's side. Dad's side didn't have anything but a couple generations. When I was a kid I didn't appreciate it, now I am older, the ones who did the research are older (or gone?) and last I heard from my mom ,someone stole it and she has no idea what they have left. I will have to really dig around before my grandma's generation is all gone to find anything. Now that I have kids and my husbands history only goes back to his great grandfather, I really wish I had it. I hope you really enjoy going through the names and feel a connection to a hidden family past. What a treasure for you and so nice of them to pass it on before the line is lost!!! It'll be a great read! Copy it so you can put one in safe keeping too!!!
Happy Heritage Reading Sparkplug!

Hey Dawg!
I live close to Atlanta and can get the AJC anywhere. Did you happen to write a story for it that I could look up and read? Just ran across this thread of yours and it got my curiosity up! BTW, how's the smoke from the fires where you're at? They said the air quality today was bad for everyone. My throat hurts from all this smoke!!!

What To Enjoy About Field Service?
by WTWizard infield service.
you get up at 4:30 or 5:00 in the morning to make it to the kingdumb hell at 5:30 in the morning (since that feb 2004 kingdumb misery, they want everyone to meet for street work at this time).
a quick discussion of the text, misapplying it to fit the misery, and then prayer and we're off.

The best times for me were right after high school graduation.
Several of us teenagers were pioneering together and we would work alone (sisters) in the late afternoons (3-6pm) and drive from one end of the territory to the other. This is back when gas was under $1 a gallon. We would do return visits we were pretty sure weren't home. We would also plan to stop at our favorite Ice Cream parlor and waste a bunch of time driving. We would spend 20 minutes driving to the rv and 20 minutes back. That took up almost an hour of time, especially with the break. We would stop at friends homes to cheer up the housebound and use the potty. That was expected anytime you worked within the radius of one brothers house. He loved the visits and kept treats and trinkets to give out. That always took at least a half hour.
There were even times we would get together with the teens from another congregation and drive 25 minutes to meet up with them and work together.
Once, a pioneer mom took us all to the mall and she handed out a couple of tracts while we were there and we counted the long drive there and back and just had a social time in the van packed with teens.
Waiting to pick up kids from school was always nice. Then they needed a snack.
When I had kids, taking time out to nurse them and care for them was nice. But the stess was riduculous on a young mom and what she should still be able to do.
We also would stop at wild life preserves in the territory and watch them for awhile.
So happy not be stuck in that world anymore!!!! -

Circuit Overseer's Callous Remark
by snowbird ini was just thinking about a co's closing remarks one sunday after the watchtower study.
he stated that he had heard that ray franz was dead.
he didn't call him by name, of course.

Funny how they would keep tabs on someone they say to have nothing to do with and ignore--huh? Even though Jesus said you must love your enemies, that seems to be a scripture skipped over a lot. Instead it was always emphasized " you reap what you sow" and always in a negative context, not a rejoiceful harvesting of good!!!
Some Circuit Overseers seemed to be totally robotic and unfeeling, while others could melt your heart and have you in love with them like a little kid with his wonderful grandpa.
They already have Franz condemned as sinning against the holy spirit and thus unworthy of any fellow feeling. He was of the annointed, appointed by holy spirit, and yet turned his back on their (God's) organization. Some feel justified to criticize others when even jesus wouldn't rebuke satan. Self righteousness is a heady feeling.
Just my 2 cents. Kitten Whiskers -

If it wasn't a school project, maybe he and a buddy passed notes in class and joked about mailing them later. The buddy, now living in Georgia. That is pretty wild when you can't remember it right off!!!!
I would be interested to get one from me, probably be the best mail I've had in a long time seeing I am shunned by my best girlfriend!
Hope he can recognize it and recall the memory!
